Tetros ULTRA is a novel water/lipid based topical delivery system that effectively penetrates the stratum corneum and distributes throughout the viable epidermis.  The product has moisturizing and barrier repairing effects that soothe scaling skin and decrease skin abrasion due to itching.

A unique feature of this product is the addition of taurine and an activator of the taurine transporter to provide antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and osmoregulatory properties.  These product attributes lend themselves to widespread applications in numerous dermatologic disorders while fully maintaining the barrier function of the skin.

FAQs + Learning Center

Stressed skin can manifest itself in many ways including dry skin, rough skin, inflamed and irritated skin (rashes and hives) in conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, acne, seborrheic dermatitis, and other forms of dermatitis caused by medications and certain medical treatments.

Environmental factors that can contribute to stressed skin include: allergies, irritants, pollutants and photodamage from sun exposure, as well as from various other forms of light, like HEV light (blue light), emitted from the screens of devices like smartphone, tablet and computer. Skin that reflects photoaging and chronological aging are also stressed skin responses.

Tetros ULTRA is based on the patent protected Tetros technology. No other products contain this highly effective, potent combination of ingredients.

When the skin becomes stressed, the immune system cells release inflammatory mediators, like histamine, bradykinin and prostaglandins.

These cause blood vessels to enlarge. This permits more blood to enter the vessels in the tissues that are stressed, which causes inflammation. Continuous cycles of inflammation lead to more dryness and stress, causing the skin to appear aged, with lines and wrinkles. These are in addition to other signs of aging.

Skin aging results from two fundamental processes: intrinsic and extrinsic aging.

Intrinsic refers to the natural aging process, or chronological aging. In most people who have never been to a tanning parlor, or nude sunbathed, buttock skin is a good place to see intrinsic aging. Extrinsic aging is where external factors accelerate the skin aging process. External factors include, among other, allergens, irritants, environmental pollutants, sun exposure and exposure to certain artificial forms of light. Skin aging caused by exposure to sunlight and other damaging forms of light (photodamage) is referred to as photoaging. It is quite likely that the back of your wrist and arm show these signs, while the under surface of your arm shows them much less.

A closer look at intrinsic aging of the skin:

As we age, our skin begins to intrinsically and progressively lose its functionality. The outer layer loses its ability to prevent water loss. Our skin becomes increasingly dry as a result. In the rest of the skin layers, there is an advancing loss of proteins (collagen and elastin.) Skin loses its natural elasticity and its water binding capacity. It becomes thinner and dry.

With advancing age, skin loses its ability to produce important water binding substances, like hyaluronic acid, which become depleted. Estrogen production slows down. In women, intrinsic aging occurs during menopause when estrogen levels decline rapidly. The important benefit of estrogen in the skin, is that it prevents the decrease of collagen and it helps maintain skin thickness.

Another important aspect of intrinsic aging is that the sugars (glucose in particular) in the body that are used for energy, can react with our skin proteins. This process is known as glycation. With glycation, skin proteins no longer function properly. The advanced glycation end products (AGEs) alter protein fibers, making them stiff, with an abnormal shape. The two proteins most susceptible to glycation are collagen and elastin. Sagging skin, lines, wrinkles, lack of radiance are the result.

How extrinsic aging affects skin aging:

When the skin is also exposed to extrinsic factors, the natural the aging processes accelerates. With photodamage for example, progressive exposure to sun and other forms of light lead to the production of free radicals in the skin. These trigger inflammation.

Inflammation causes further damage to the skin barrier and to the skin proteins. Skin becomes drier, thinner and lines and wrinkles become more obvious.

Only Tetros ULTRA is specifically formulated with the four core ingredients described above. Working together, they help to quickly calm and improve appearance of skin that is:

✔ dry
✔ rough
✔ inflamed
✔ red
✔ irritated
✔ lined and wrinkled

As seen in conditions such as:
✔ eczema
✔ psoriasis
✔ seborrheic dermatitis
✔ other rashes
✔ diabetic’s dry skin

Research now reveals a key new facet that is vital our antiaging skin strategies: Osmolytes.
Active osmolyte transport systems in the skin are now identified as a major influence in skin hydration, maintaining the correct functioning of the living skin tissues and in preventing the signs of aging skin.

Taurine and glycine are natural osmolytes that protect the skin. Both are also naturally occurring amino acids in our bodies.

Taurine’s role is of pivotal importance: within minutes of the skin being exposed to stress (including irritation, sunlight, dehydration) taurine starts acting to protect the living skin layers with its Taurine Transporter system (TauT.) Its presence and the rapidity of the response makes it perhaps the most valuable cytoprotector. Its role includes protecting the normal function of the skin protein, which includes collagen and various structural skin proteins.

Taurine is proven to be the most important osmolyte, which ensures the skin’s integrity at the cellular level. Perhaps not surprisingly, scientists have found that young epidermis (from patients 1-15 years of age) has a higher level of Tau T than mature epidermis (from patients 55-70 years of age).

IN SUMMARY The power of osmolytes is vital to optimum skin barrier repair and protection. Osmolyte antiaging skin strategy is pivotal for maintaining hydration, tissue integrity, and slowing, or reversing signs of photodamage and chronological aging. Clearly these osmoregulatory and cytoprotective benefits with the TauT activators, must be part of a successful antiaging skin strategy.
